David Toshio Tsumura is professor of Old Testament at Japan Bible Seminary in Tokyo, chairman of the Tokyo Museum of Biblical Archaeology, and editor of the journal Exegetica. A specialist in Semitic languages and ancient Near Eastern literature, he wrote the commentaries on 1 and 2 Samuel in the New International Commentary on the Old Testament.
